Found lots of new information for my family tree but was disappointed to find that this book has neither a table of contents nor an index. Family names are NOT listed in alphabetical order. It takes a while to find the family name you are looking for and you better put a marker in that place if you want to refer back to it. I ended up making a list of all the family names and corresponding page numbers for my own use (which took about two hours).Product details

There may be a lot of useful information in this book. But I clicked the "look inside" link, and found a lot of incorrect characters in the middles of words, garbled sentences, photo captions that are complete gibberish, and line breaks that don't make any sense. I'm hesitant to buy the print version of this book, because I don't know if the information I want will be readable or not.
This is a reprint of volume 3. This is not the entire four volume printing. What it does have is fairly thorough. Includes pages 1051 through 1650.
While this book contains a great deal of information, the quality of the scanning makes many passages unreadable in the online version, detracting from its value.
The text is so garbled with OCR mis-recognition and there doesn't seem to be any way to get directly to a page I want from the page I'm currently on.
This book is chuck full of information on the founding families in Maine. It confirmed other sourses of information I located on our New England lineage. If one knows for sure they have family from Maine then this would be a good research tool.
